Well, our presentation went very well this morning! I was actually quite pleased :) It was very exciting to remind myself how much I love molecular biology...and molecular anything, really. I'm such a nerd.
In French, we've moved on from discussing Parisian culture to the culture and lives in the suburbs. It's really quite depressing. Whereas in the states our ghettos are usually in the inner-city, here (and, really, throughout most of the world) they're in the suburbs. It's very sad to learn about all the horrible things that go on. For instance, in class our group had to present on stories of three young women who were stoned, strangled, and burned alive for disobeying their male partners or family members. I just finished watching a movie for tomorrow, called Tête de Turc which explores the rough life in the suburbs and how one decision can change the lives of many. It's hard to think that people could actually do such horrible things to other human beings. I have to take solace in the fact that there are also good people in this world, whose light will always brighten the darkness that others bring.
Two more essays to write before Friday, and then this week will be over! Never again will I procrastinate. I sure learned my lesson :P
