Okay, can I just say that that is the coolest way of saying just past midnight? I don't know why it fascinates me...but it does :P
Today the fatigue was really bad. I'm glad I finished all my work last night, so after lunch I was able to take a nap. Not that I really slept, because I'm not particularly tired...I've been getting plenty of sleep, thank heavens! It was recommended I try the B-complex again. We'll see if it makes a difference (unlikely).
But anyways, we went to see l'Avare tonight at the Palais-Royale performed by la Comédie-Française--the best of the best actors in France at the most beautiful location. Wow! I'm so glad I read it in advance because I love comparing how I picture it with how the director interprets the piece (probably closer to Molière's intention, haha).
And the building! Oh my! So beautiful. No flash on the camera, but I wish you could get the beauty of the place. Man...
We were on the second balcony, in the center of the stage:
My view of the stage. You can't see any of the detail here, but WOW.
I've learned to ALWAYS look up :)
We were talking during the intermission about how we all pictured the scenes when we read it, and about how that's what is so amazing about reading a play. You can interpret things how you like. But it's also very interesting to watch it on the stage, because there are so many nuances, that I just didn't catch. so, the director seemed to have this darker view of the comedy, so it was apparent throughout. Basically, it's a play written in 1668 by Molière about an old miser whose love of money surpasses everything, even his own children. There's a hilarious twist at the end, and it really is funny. I thoroughly enjoyed it, and the actors were awesome!!
Walking out, after a great show:
Also: I don't know if I mentioned it yesterday, but this is the ice cream I bought. Four for 1.50 euros!! So DELICIOUS :P
I'm so glad I was able to go, and laugh, and enjoy the play. I really do love going to see shows. I hope to see more while I'm here...hopefully a ballet. Tomorrow's another long day with an added review session for evolution and chinese dinner in the evening. On y va!! :)
