Well, that's about all I did today, haha. For some reason class seemed marginally more interesting today. I'm not sure if it was because I knew I was going to have a short day, or because the professor was actually better. We'll see tomorrow!
Today, the lines I take to class weren't affected by the strike at all, so it wasn't bad. Actually, I think it was faster than usual! While I was sitting there, I was just looking around and I kind of starting thinking about all the people. It's so interesting to think about what they all are doing, where they're going, how they feel. I'm not sure whether that's creepy, but alas, that's what I've been thinking about lately. And, particularly, that we all come from the same place and have similarities deep down. It really helps me when I get too sad about some of the bad things that happen.
For instance, there's been a lot more violence on campus (in Chicago) recently than there has been in my past two years. I feel like I get security alerts at least once a week, and they're usually about armed assaults. Sometimes it can make me so sad that people feel they can take advantage of others like that. And looking around, everyone is so discontent about their situation, that I wonder if it's really that bad. And maybe it is. But I can't think about it that way, because I get too negative. When I'm negative, I'm not productive. I don't think optimism necessarily needs to be naïvety. But who knows? That's just been on my mind of late.
I did go grocery shopping for the week, and I think I did very well! I found the grocery store that I like and is the cheapest. I spent less and got more than I had planned, so that's good :) I even had extra money to buy some ice cream. What a treat!
I mostly worked on my paper today. I'm moderately satisfied about how it turned out. I'm a little nervous because I have no idea how he's going to grade it. I know I'm really wordy, and he specified that we should be "terse," (isn't that a bad thing?) so I tried to cut it down as much as I could. But then I had the problem of not having enough material. He specified that he didn't want too much detail, so I don't want to get marked down for that...but at the same time, it needs to be long enough. Oh well, I suppose we'll see soon enough.
Sorry this entry was more journal-like than most. I guess that's what you get when I don't do much! But, I'm glad I had this day. I've been feeling very anxious lately, and it helped to stay in for a day, and not feel like I was in a rush.
Tomorrow we see l'Avare at la Comédie-Française! I think it's going to be great! :)
So, you saw the rainbow, even in Paris!
